The terms “ethics” and “compliance” are often used synonymously. However, the terms are essentially different sides of the same coin. Compliance is following the law, while ethics is doing what is right regardless of what the law says. In today’s regulatory climate, many corporations have, or are building, corporate environmental compliance programs. Advising on the complex environmental requirements, managing documentation, auditing, training, and commenting on and interpreting regulations are just a few of the jobs performed by lawyers in this sector. The best corporate environmental programs will recognize the difference between ethics and compliance and drive both. This one-hour CLE program will address specific ethics and compliance issues and challenges these practitioners face.
Speakers will include Todd Normane of Cohen & Grigsby, P.C. and Laurel Brandstetter of Leech Tishman Fuscaldo & Lampl, LLC. The program will be moderated by Laura Frano of Range Resources.
