Jacob is an intellectual property attorney with experience in both the legal and academic arenas. Jacob focuses his practice on intellectual property disputes and counseling high-tech companies, both large and small, as well as institutions of higher education. He manages domestic and international trademark portfolios, performs trademark clearance, registration, policing and litigation, and conducts infringement investigations. He also counsels clients on patent licensing, copyright matters, rights of publicity, defamation, Internet domain names, technology transfer deal structuring, and intellectual property matters related to mergers and acquisitions.
Jacob is also an Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Law at Duquesne University School of Law, where he teaches various legal courses, including torts, intellectual property, social media law, and technology innovation. His primary scholarship focus concerns the impact of intellectual property law and policy on higher education.
Prior to his teaching career, Jacob was an IP litigation associate with McGuireWoods LLP in Richmond, Virginia.
